(Stamford, CT …October 4, 2021) REACH Prep hosted its second virtual 5k Walk/Run on Saturday, September 25th and Sunday, September 26th, 2021.
The event raised funds to support REACH Prep’s mission: to provide access to transformative educational experiences that empower underserved, high-achieving students to graduate from top colleges and emerge as the next generation of leaders.
The organization exceeded its fundraising goal for the event thanks to the outreach of the Virtual 5k participants and supporters of the organization. Local sponsors included CapitalOne, DataTel and the TNS Group.
REACH Prep Scholars, Alumni, and supporters from fifteen states and three countries registered to walk or run to support the organization’s mission. Fifteen teams were organized, including a team of REACH Prep Alumni and another of REACH Prep Scholars. Participants walked in a location they selected during the weekend and shared photos on social media. The social media buzz of the event drove a second wave of donations that contributed to the success of the event.

REACH Prep’s 12-year educational continuum starts with a fourth grader’s admission into the rigorous, 15-month Prep Academy program of coursework. During the fall of fifth grade, REACH Prep works with students and families during the process of admission to independent schools, including test and interview prep, and guidance with financial aid. There is ongoing academic and family support through high school, leading up to ACT/SAT test prep and college admission guidance. Summer opportunities throughout offer students access to internships, experiential learning opportunities, outdoor leadership, community service, study abroad and pre-collegiate programming. REACH Prep continues to work with its students during their college experience, helping them prepare for graduation, professional positions, and leadership roles in society.
